What is SOTA?

"Summits on the Air (SOTA) is an award scheme for radio amateurs and shortwave listeners that encourages portable operation in mountainous areas.
SOTA has been carefully designed to make participation possible for everyone - this is not just for mountaineers! There are awards for activators (those who ascend to the summits) and chasers (who either operate from home, a local hilltop or are even Activators on other summits).

SOTA activity from Serra del Prete - Wednesday, May 28, 2008

This week end, on sunday June the 1st, I'll be active from Serra del Prete (2.180 meters above the sea).
This mountain has no SOTA reference yet. So I'm going to do all the necessary to obtain one and communicate it here on this page as soon as possible.
The operative band will be 2 meters SSB. Hope to meet you on air. Bye!
